Ibadan, "Ilu Ibadan", YOU've been the town that benefited the most from the giant strides of the Ajimoshe administration; yet, you nearly interrupted the works of a transformation.
“Ibadan mesi Ogo, nile Oluyole. Ilu Ogunmola, olodogbo keri loju ogun. Ilu Ibikunle alagbala jaya-jaya. Ilu Ajayi, o gbori Efon se filafila. Ilu Latosa, Aare-ona kakanfo. Ibadan Omo ajoro sun. The mass transit (Ajumoshe) bus allows YOU traders to pay between 20 naira and 50 naira to carry YOUR goods around. YOU have paid heavily to do this in the past. I don't understand why YOU didn't vote for foresight; a lot of YOU voted because of "regular salaries for civil servants". I really shake my head for YOU o.
I now understand that it was truly a jinx that Ajimobi broke for being re-elected. At least, never will it be heard, on the lips of YOU "unsatisfiable" Ibadan citizens that YOU don't "serve" twice. At least, right now, YOU shall be “forced” to truly serve a well deserved governor - Senator Abiola Ajimobi; Haters should just go and "hug the nearest transformer."
Earlier, when historians bore me with the stories of how Ibadan has refused to re-elect a sitting governor, I console myself with the fact that I've not personally seen a governor that deserved a second term in Oyo State. Not Lam Adeshina, Adewolu Ladoja, or Alao Akala; those are governors that surely didn't display qualities of leaders with foresight. To stress the fact, I had vowed to relocate from Oyo State if Alao Akala was re-elected in 2011.
So, congratulations Ibadan - now you deserve to move forward.
